“To do alms is a work greater than miracles…To feed the hungry in the name of Christ is a work greater than raising the dead in Christ’s name…” St. John Chrysostom
St Barnabas parishioners struggle to live out the gospel commandment (Matt. 25) to feed the hungry, and serve the needs of others because each individual has the image of God within them and is therefore “my neighbor”.
Some of the ministry work we do includes:
- Monthly food drive (to collect food for a local food bank).
- Regular support of and involvement with FOCUS Orange County (Fellowship of Orthodox Christians United to Serve) serving meals at a local park and at a transitional motel serving the homeless and working poor.
