Wisdom for the day – Elder Porphyrios

September 8, 2014

We need to have goodness and love in our soul…

Man has such powers that he can transmit good or evil to his environment. These matters are very delicate.

Great care is needed.

We need to see everything in a positive frame of mind.

We mustn’t think anything evil about others.

Even a simple glance or a sigh influences those around us.

And even the slightest anger or indignation does harm.

We need to have goodness and love in our soul and to transmit these things.

Elder Porphyrios from the book ‘Wounded by Love’.

Father Wayne note:

“Elder Porphyrios raises the bar with this reflection.

We each have greater power than we can ever realize.

A simple sigh, the slightest anger or indignation does harm.   Lord have Mercy.

This gives us an enhanced understanding of the power of our living witness in daily life.

Some of our ‘most successful’ evangelists in our churches have been people who lived this kind of loving righteousness.  As someone said,  talk is cheap.  Certainly know your faith and study the faith and learn.

But if you study your eyes out and talk until your tongue drops out…and yet missed  the message contained in the words of Elder Porphyrios you will have missed the boat.

Our years are short on this earth……redeem the time my spiritual children and great will your reward be in heaven.”
